On August 17, 2024, 45 sailors from the Canadian Navy’s HMCS Montréal visited the Mái Ấm Tình Mẹ orphanage, bringing with them a spirit of volunteerism and warm hearts. They not only completed repairs and improvements to the facility but also brought joy and smiles to the children there. This meaningful activity was part of HMCS Montréal’s port call in Vietnam, leaving a deep impression on everyone involved.
The event was honored by the presence of the Canadian Ambassador, Mr. Shawn Steil, and the President of Dan On Foods – Dan On Foundation, Mr. Dan On. Our team was proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the sailors, sharing meaningful moments together. Though we came from different cultures and spoke different languages, our hearts beat as one.
We shared unforgettable moments, working tirelessly: laying each brick for the children’s playground, erecting fences, planting trees, gardening… and repairing every corner of the orphanage. We also had moments of fun, singing, and playing with the children. All our efforts were directed toward one common goal: bringing joy and hope to the children. A simple lunch became a celebration of friendship and humanity, where charitable hearts met and shared.
These precious moments are not just memories but also a testament to Dan On Foods – Dan On Foundation’s unwavering commitment to helping disadvantaged children, improving the environment, and fostering sustainable development. We are proud to have partnered with the sailors on this meaningful day and believe that our small actions today will help build a brighter future for the children at Mái Ấm Tình Mẹ.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the volunteers who supported us throughout the event: LumiGrade Ltd and CanCham. It is through this collaboration that we were able to fulfill our mission in the most complete and meaningful way.
